Feeling Groovy Through Cold Season:

One of the best ways to feel groovy is to not be sick! Easier said than done, right? Here are a few tips to help keep those nasty germs and viruses at bay:

  • Wash your hands often. Germs and viruses often enter your system through touch. Don’t touch your mouth, nose or eyes. If you need to touch your face, use a tissue.

  • Drink plenty of water- add some lemon to it.
  • Get plenty of sleep. Your body heals and renews it’s self while you sleep.
  • Consider using an essential oil such as oregano. Just a couple drops mixed with coconut oil on the souls of your feet before you go to bed will do.
  • Boost your immunity with some Echinacea, Ashwaganda, Astragalus, and some good old vitamin C. make a tea or just add a few drops to your water.
  • Drink your lemon, apple cider vinegar, cayenne, and water (Magic Tonic)
  • Use a Neti Pot. (See instructions below)

Using a Neti Pot

The use of a neti pot can help alleviate congestion and reduce your chances of becoming sick. The practice comes from the Ayurvedic tradition and has been around for centuries.

To use, you create a saline solution with warm filtered or distilled water and sea salt and place it in the neti, a small container which looks similar to a teapot. The solution is then poured into your nasal cavity as you turn head to the side allowing the saline solution to flow through your nasal cavity. Then switching to the other side. It feels odd at first, but you’ll soon get used to it. This practice is best done in the morning.
