Magic Tonic
I start each day with a magic tonic and I haven’t been sick in years. OK, so maybe it’s not magic, but this recipe’s been around for years, and it works like magic.
1 Cup filtered water 2 T Apple Cider Vinegar- raw and organic
Juice from ¼ of a lemon
1 T Honey- raw and local
Dash of Cayenne Pepper
I drink this warm.
While you are slicing up that lemon, here are a few other uses for this amazing fruit:
- Add 1-2 slices of lemon to your drinking water. Not only does this help liven up your water, the lemon cleanses your liver and kidneys, which leads to healthier glowing skin.
- Trouble sleeping? Blend together the juice from ½ a lemon, including the peel from ¼ of that lemon, and some honey for taste. Blend these items together with a cup of warm water. Drink warm before bed.
Have a great night’s sleep!
Using tea to detox your body and help you glow
If your goal is to detox your body of some of the grunge that it has been collecting, here are some herbs that can help you on your path. Regularly drinking these herbs, as a tea will help to detox your body, as well as add great flavor to your tea. And the great news is, all these plants can be found by foraging from your or your neighbor’s yard or can be found at a health food store.
- Dandelions
- Stinging Nettles
- Milk Thistle
- Horsetail
- Oregano
- Thyme
- Rosemary
- Mint
I can pick these darlings in my yard and hang them upside down to dry for about one to two weeks, then I crumple them up to use as tea or I add them to an existing tea.
Simple!
Healthy and Natural Remedies
When it comes to finding safe remedies to help keep you and your family healthy, I prefer to go into my own backyard or a local farmer’s market, rather than use some lab created pharmaceutical. Here’s a list of healthy real food alternatives that are great at keeping our bodies in tip top shape:
Papaya seeds- Dry them and ground them up like pepper corns. Their use eliminates internal pesticides.
Fennel Seeds –
Chewing on fennel seeds freshens your breath, also fights internal pesticides, and fights wrinkles.
Cinnamon- A dash of cinnamon in your tea, coffee, oatmeal, or hot chocolate helps to lower blood sugar.
Cardamom- A dash of cardamom in your tea, coffee, oatmeal, or hot chocolate lowers effects of caffeine.
Apple Cider Vinegar- Helps alleviate heart burn. Also, helps with digestion and weight loss.
