The Eyes Have It!

What if you lost your vision? How would your life change? No reading, no watching your favorite shows, no driving to go shopping. It is our vision that allows us to create our life as we know it.

How lucky are we that we wake every morning to see this beautiful world we live in. Because of our vision, we enjoy the colors of the plants and flowers outside, the faces of our loved ones. Another major factor is how our ability to see our environment  enables us to be mobile and drive our cars.

Because of this, don’t you think we should do all we can to protect our vision and keep our eyes healthy?

Here I list a few simple practices which can help keep your eyes in tip top shape:

  • Rub you hands together until you can feel some heat generating. Cup your hands over each eye. Allow the energy to soak into your eyes and your eyes to relax in this warm quiet space.
  • Splash cool water on your closed eyes in the morning to rinse and rejuvenate.
  • Drink lots of fresh clean water. Your eyes have a lot of fluid in them which need to be come from somewhere. Keep your and your eyes hydrated.
  • Enjoy some tasty herb tea or tincture as well as supplements which support vision and eye health-bilberry, lutein, hyaluronic acid, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Keep the muscles in your eyes strong be completing some daily exercises- upon waking each morning, move your eyes (Not your head) in the following directions,
    • Up & down then left to right, in a cross or “+” shaped direction.
    • Look from the top right down to the bottom left, then from the top leftt to the bottom right, in an “X” direction.
    • Now move your eyes in a square starting at the top right, to the right top, down to the bottom right, then to the bottom left
    • Move your eyes in circle both clockwise and counter-clockwise.
    • Next take your pointer finger from each hand and place them the outside peripheral of your eyes, so you are looking to the outside edges of each eye at the same time.
    • Lastly, place a pointer finger on the bridge of your nose and slowly move it away from you watching your finger the entire time with both eyes. Then watch your finger as it returns to the bridge of your nose.
  • It is also important to keep safety in mind. Wear protective gear when near flying debris.
  • Allow your eyes to rest when tired.
  • Be aware of chemicals in make-up and eye drops which can have lasting negative health effects.
  • And lastly, ensure to have a profession monitor your vision and eye health regularly.
